The greater Portland metropolitan area is a very large place full of millions of people. Many of us are unable to make it alone and need outside help. We believe that if people work together toward common goals, even those who don't have enough can accomplish great things. If we pool our resources anything can be accomplished. While we are geographicly spread throughout the area we choose to see Portland as one very large village, in which we can all contribute to the greater good of the community as a whole by working together to care for individuals.
The Portland Village Cooperative is a group of individuals working together toward the good of all members and their communities. In the short term this could mean establishing free home and community gardens and building wind and solar power equipment. In the long term are obtaining land to build no-cost housing, and converting gas powered cars to electric or bio-diesel hybrids. The ultimate goal of the community is to improve quality of life for all members, and for the world around us whenever possible.
